On February 24, 2025, Amon Franklin Harris of Fayetteville, NC was called home.
Amon was a retired deputy of the Cumberland County Sheriff Department as well as a retired veteran of the US Army, serving 24 years and combat tours in Korea and Vietnam. He made Fayetteville his home with wife Beulah and daughters in 1950 and continued to serve his community, family, and faith until his health would no longer allow him.
Amon is survived by his wife Beulah Mae Harris, daughters, Janet E. Daye, Gloria J. Harris, Willie A. Washington (Dwight); a sister Janie L. Buyck,, along with five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and countless nephews and nieces. He was a beacon of light for all those who knew him and he will surely be missed by all.
Services will be held at Evans Metropolitan AME Zion Church at 301 N Cool Spring Street in Fayetteville on Friday, March 7th at 11am.
The family will hold a viewing at Herring Funeral Care & Cremations at 2760 Murchison Rd in Fayetteville on Thursday, March 6th between 5pm and 7pm.
