Dianne Hodges Mancini, 74, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away on January 6, 2022 when her weary heart stopped.
Dianne was born on October 16, 1947 to Harold and Marion Mancini in Fayetteville, NC. Four years later the family welcomed her only sister Dara into the family. She and her sister would spend countless childhood days in the country with aunts, uncles, and cousins horse playing and eating well.
Dianne graduated from E.E. Smith High School in 1965 andwent on to graduate in Education at North Carolina A&T StateUniversity. After graduating with a B.S. in Education, she started teaching for Cumberland County School District, kickstarting a career that would span over three decades. She developed an affinity for working with special needs students and devoted most of her career to the specialty. Her career was personally rewarding, and she was most proud of her students. She stayed in touch with many of her students over the years.
Dianne would go on to further her education by taking graduate coursework at Fayetteville State University (FSU). During this time, she joined Delta Sigma Theta’s Graduate Chapter and enjoyed participating in their contributions to the community.
In 1999, Dianne retired from teaching full-time and spent her free time reading, traveling, gaming, and bird-watching – her favorite hobby. She also continued to work with students as a substitute teacher, until health problems prevented her from doing so.
Dianne was preceded in death by her parents Marion Hodges and Harold Mancini. She is survived by her sister Dara Belson [Martin], her niece DaMara Belson, her nephew Devin Belson, and countless cousins.
Dianne’s family is most appreciative of the kind words, thoughts, prayers, and calls that have been received to date and welcome family, friends, and colleagues to leave a memory of Dianne on the Tribute Wall.
