Dorothy T. (Raeford) Mosley

Dorothy Theresa Raeford Mosley, 89, of Fayetteville, was born in Gray’s Creek, NC on October 22, 1936, to the late Rachel Raeford. She peacefully transitioned on April 23, 2026, in West End, NC.

Dorothy was previously a faithful member of Gray’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where she confessed her belief at an early age.

Her early years of education were in the Cumberland County School System. She also attended Fayetteville State University. She was later employed by Cumberland County Schools where she served assisting students with special needs for several years.

Dorothy was united in marriage for 44 years to the late Johnnie Mosley Jr., and was preceded in death by three brothers - Clarence Raeford, William Raeford, and Lester Raeford.

She was affectionately known as “Dot” and often encouraged others with a Bible verse or uplifting words. She will be remembered for her strong faith and candid spirit.

She leaves a loving daughter, Comellia Saunders (Olin); one brother, John Raeford (Leler); two granddaughters, Teresa O’Donoghue (Christopher) and Carla Ricks (Jason); four great-grandchildren, Jaela Parker, Aubree O’Donoghue, and Caleb & Jalen Ricks; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends at 11am & Funeral services will be held at Herring Funeral Care and Cremations on Saturday, May 2nd at 11:30AM. Interment will follow immediately after at Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
