Jack Smith, Jr.

Jack Smith, Jr., 85, of Hope Mills, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 04, 2026 at 12:30pm at Herring Funeral Care & Cremations Chapel. Burial will follow in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, Spring Lake with full military honors.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Smith of the home; a daughter, Helga Smith of Hope Mills; two grandchildren. Sisters, Linda Carey of Charlotte, Sylvia Manley of Lebanon, TN, Lisa Strader and Mary Bell, both of Ashland, KY, along with a brother, Oscar Smith of Ashland, KY.

A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 04, 2026 from 11:30am-12:30pm, prior to the service.
