James Howard Shaw, Sr., 82, formerly of Fayetteville passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 on Brooklyn, NY. at the age of 82
Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, November 06, 2021 at 1pm at Herring Funeral Care & Cremations Chapel.
James was born November 10, 1938, in Maxton , North Carolina to the late Fred Shaw, Sr. and Lillie Mae McDougald Shaw.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Guy Orlando Shaw; and brother Robert Luther Shaw.
James along with his family moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina. From an early age with the guidance and love of his parents, he was led to accept Christ. He became a member of Mattock Memorial A.M.E Zion Church
James was educated in the public school system in Fayetteville, N.C. After leaving E. E. Smith High School, James enlisted in the United States Air Force, and served as an Air Police.
After departing from the Air Force, he moved to Brooklyn, New York. He was employed at Kingsboro Psychiatrics Center, until he retired in 2001. This is where he met and married his wife, Willie Mae.
James’s love and devotion will be cherished in the hearts of his beloved wife: Willie Mae Shaw; two sons, James Howard Shaw, Jr.. (Bernadette) and Howard Jackson ( Keisha); his stepson: Carl A. Clark; four grandchildren James Howard Shaw, III, Joshua Shaw, Antionette Harris and Brandon Jackson; two great grandchildren: Abrion Shaw and Avion Shaw; two Brothers: Fred Shaw Jr. (Joyce), of St. Mary’s Georgia, Mitchel L. Shaw, Sr. (Sheral), of Hepzibah, Georgia one sister: Carrol A. Shaw of Landover, Maryland. He was loved and adored by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sister-in-law’s, one special brother-in-law and friends.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 12-1pm.
