Jon Loyd Obituary

Jon Ivy Loyd, 44, of Angier, NC, passed away on March 4th, 2025 at the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC.

He was born November 14, 1980 in Fort Hood (now Fort Cavazos), Texas to Albert (Chip) and Edie (Strong) Loyd. His mother, brother and him later moved to La Crosse, Wisconsin, followed by Jon to Angier, North Carolina later in his life.

Jon graduated high-school from Central High School, La Crosse, WI, but completed most school from birth through 11th grade in Copperas Cove, TX. He then graduated from Wake Forest Tech School with a degree in Computer Programing.

Jon worked for a Computer Programing Contractor that put him working at Circle K convenience store in Information Technology in the North Carolina area. He also worked at Tristate Auto in Fuquay-Varina, NC.

Jon is survived by his “kids” Jack, King, and Ace. Jon loved to hang out with his “kids” all the time. Taking them on drives, the pet store, or just watching a movie and snuggling together. Jon was also a Trekkie, he could quote any phrase from any movie or episode at a seconds notice.

Jon is survived by his mother Edie Loyd of La Crosse WI, father, Chip Loyd of Sanford, NC, His Brother Christopher (Jennifer) Loyd, nephew Benjamin, and niece Madalyn. He had a special relationship with both his nephew and niece. He is further survived Aunts Judy Kwarciany, Escanaba MI, Mary Strong, La Crosse, WI, Debbie Loyd (Dr. David Runyon) of Troy, Pamela Blackburn, and Tracey Bentley, Uncle William (La Yvonne) Strong La Crosse, WI and many many cousins.

Jon was also survived by his second family led by Mark and Dawn at Tristate Auto.

Jon was preceded in death by a brother “Spock” and sister “Gizmo” maternal Grandfather and Grandmother Wilbur and Gertrude Strong, Paternal Grandmother Geraldine (Weeks) Smith Paternal Grandfather Albert Henry Loyd Sr Paternal Step Grandfather Pat Smith, Step grandmother Shirley Jean Loyd, Paternal Aunt Juanita Loyd Taylor and Paternal Step Uncle Troy Smith.

A celebration of life will be held in his honor at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, we ask donations be made to the Harnett County Animal Shelter in North Carolina where we unfortunately had to surrender his kids Jack, King, and Ace to. Other ways to remember Jon would be to adopt a pet in his memory.
