Deepest sympathy on the loss of your lovely, spirited mother. What a joyous person! Will always remember how she was so friendly and comforting to those that she would meet. I enjoyed seeing her in plays at the Cape Fear Regional Theater. A long life well-lived is a blessing from God. May you always hold those beautiful memories to your heart. John 11:25. RIP Mama Tine.

Mama Tine touched everyone that she met with her zest for life and her zeal for FSU. She cared for so many people with an open and loving heart. She was a mother to us all, always reminding us to take pride in who we are and how we must use our knowledge and talents to help someone else. She personified a grace of which Lord Byron wrote " She walks in beauty, like the night, Of cloudless climes and starry skies,… And on that cheek and o'er that brow, So soft, so calm, yet eloquent, The smiles that win, the tints that glow, But tell of days in goodness spent,— A mind at peace with all below, A heart whose love is innocent." Most explicitly, she was as Maya Angelou wrote, a “Phenomenal Woman,” that’s Ernestine Smith. We will miss you so very much and carry you always in our hearts.

Dear Sharon,

What a gem God placed among us. Words can not describe the internal as well as the external beauty of your wonderful mother. I think even God enjoyed the gifts and talents He placed in her and allowed her to share them on this earth for 100 years. is there any wonder God looked at His creation and said "That is Good?" There is no doubt that the world is a better place because she lived. What did she do when God called her name Sunday night? I wonder did she dance, did she sing, did she perform , did she play a song, did she make 2 points on the court? However she answered, I do believe Good Clapped His hands and said, That is good. What a life well lived.

Ms. Sharon, Uncle Rock & Family,
Our prayers are with you during this season as you celebrate the birth of Jesus and the life of your Mother. Ponder on the magnificent Christ as you drench your heart within the warm wonderful moments you shared with your Mother. But know…she’s home now and she’s doing just fine. On Christmas day she will say:

I've had my first Christmas in Heaven,
A glorious, wonderful day!
I stood with the saints of the ages,
Who found Christ, the truth and the way.
'Tis Christmas in Heaven,
What a beautiful sight!
It's my first one here;
Everything is all right.

Be Blessed, for He shall send a comforter,
Tonya (daughter of the late Lula M. Oliver)
